Extremely Disappointing. Was interested in buying a car. Registered my interest twice online.Missed 1 call monday afternoon, recived a text saying car was still available. I rang twice afterwards no reply and sent a text that monday saying I was still interested. Phoned twice tuesday before recieving a call back from rory saying the car had been sold that morning. Terrible people, avoid like the plague.

Buying a car can be an anxious experience, where and who to buy it off? Will they be reliable and will you be getting value for your hard earned cash. More and more people in the South of Ireland are looking to the North for such value, and with it comes potentially more unknowns. A different country, a different currency and the distance one has to travel to even view a car can be off-putting to many. As I live in Cork, I couldn’t be farther away in terms of distance. Admittedly, I wouldn’t be mechanically car savvy and was overly cautious before I purchased my latest car. So much so that I waited months before I did, test driving and checking out countless cars down south. I came across a particular stunning looking vehicle at KD Kars (via CarsNI), whom I had never heard of before. Impressed after being doing some quick research I called to inquire about said car. One of the main pictures that come up when one Googles KD Kars are a picture of owners Mark and Rory and this to me helped put a face on the company and was impressed that these guys are putting themselves out there. Looking through their car selection all the used cars appear to be top spec and exceptionally clean and mine was no different. I believe I first spoke with Mark and the remainder of my dealings were with Rory. They couldn’t have been more polite and in fairness, there was no BS with them either - it was straight to the point. I told them I was 100% interested in the car and would be up the following day to view. Rory said that was fine and that he would hold the car for me to view. One thing led to another on my end and I couldn’t make the trip. I rang Rory first thing and explained my predicament and he told me flat out that if I waited it would be sold. I believed him as the car looked a peach, very clean and the best spec I had seen for that particular line of car. Then I did what was hitherto unconscionable to me, I put a deposit down on a car I had not only never driven, but had never even viewed. There was just something about Rory and Mark that I felt I was in safe hands. So with the deposit down my next step was to go pick up the car. More problems (work related) materialised and it would take me another week to get up to Portadown. While Rory said this was no problem I felt that because he was upfront with me I would try and get to the car sooner. We were stuck for this second car as well so needed it ASAP. Again I did the unthinkable. I had to send my wife up to Northern Ireland to actually buy a car we had never seen or driven. I informed Rory she would be coming up so we set about making arrangements. She got the train from Cork where she was met at the train station by the lads’ father who I believe once ran the business. For me, this obviously lent itself to the lad's reputation as it has been family run for some time. Anyway, he picked her up in our new car and drove her to the garage. Rory gave me a call just to go over the finer details and they sent her on her way. While on the road she gave me a call and while I was eager to know about the car she just couldn’t stop praising all the people at KD Kars. In particular, she praised the mechanics. She was at pains to tell me that when she walked into the garage there were a number of them present and while a few heads turned to see who it was, they all went about their way in a professional manner and never made her feel uncomfortable. Walking into a place full of men can be daunting for a lot of women, my wife is a 30-year-old fitness instructor and prior experience has led her to dread such instances. For me, this really underscored KD Kars. Your employees are a reflection of who you are as a business and what you represent. This is my lasting impression of KD Kars. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough and am recommending them to friends and family. I hope to buy from them in the future, not only for car value and spec but to just meet Mark and Rory and thank them in person. Thank you lads – and by the way the car is a cracker!
